Description Of Activities:
The project is run by Ms. Nomonde Buthelezi, who has trained as a permaculturist and has previous experience as a field trainer for an NGO, conducting workshops in the community onGood Agriculture Practices and growing food using natural organic methods. The project is situated at an elderly centre and harvests for their feeding scheme. The size of the garden is 600 square metres but only 300 square metres plantable space. Ms. Nomonde is currently working with two volunteers who assist in day-to-day activities. At Ezemvelo we grow organic vegetables and herbs such Kales, Spinach, varieties, Beetroot, Turnips, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli. Also seasonal vegetables such as Tomatoes, Sweet Peppers, Chilli varieties, Pumpkins, Gem Squash. Thyme, Rosemary, Sage, Lavender, Chives, etc. We sell at farmer markets and to our community. We produce about 200kg a crop, depending on the season and demand.
