Part A: Food Commons Project Details
Description Of Activities:

We have a non profit organisation. We started this garden to support our feeding scheme for our preschool, house of safety and aftercare facility. Our staff that come from the Mooiplaas informal settlement work in the gardens and our aim is to become a community training centre where we teach the very poor community how to grow and tend to their own crops. Our project is only 6 months old. We have harvested spinach, onions, beetroot, mielies and potato’s and will now be planting our winter crops. Our staff have attended training with John Nzira from Ukuvuna urban farming that has been sponsored by Rotary centurion. We have about half a hectare to grow crops
