As a response to Covid19 we started the Elundini Community Market Garden to focus on food security and food sovereignty during these uncertain times. A nursery was erected to grow seedlings to distribute to the homegrowers in our community. A quarter of a hectare has been planted with veggies to help families in need.
This project has to grow beyond covid19 as access to fresh produce is limited in the rural areas of the Eastern Cape. Products of the market garden will be sold to the local market at a reduced price as the middle man is taken out.
